Ed Moston

President

I am currently the President of the Royal Alberta Cage Bird Club.  I was born and raised on a small farm on the east side of Calgary where animals were a big part of my life and still are.  I raised pigeons as a kid and I guess that started my life long love of birds.  Over the years I have bred and raised canaries, budgies, cockateils, quail, chickens with my focus today mainly on finches.  I raise Gold Breasted Wax Bills, Fire Finch, Red Cheeked Cordon Bleu, Society Finch with my main focus on the beautiful Gouldian Finch.  The gouldians I breed and raise are Red head, Black head and Yellow head  green backed normals.  My goal as a breeder is to breed the biggest, nicest, most colorful gouldians within the gouldian standards that I can breed.  Birds have been a big part of my life for a very long time and I can’t imagine my life without some sort of birds being a part of it.

Cameron Graham

Secretary/Treasurer

Cameron Graham is serving as our Secretary Treasurer. He got his introduction to birds by an uncle who raised budgies, cockatiels, lovebirds, and a few others back when Cameron was only 11 years old. He has been hooked ever since. He began with a group of budgies, and show pigeons as a teenager. Since then he has raised everything from Japanese Button Quail, to Rheas. From a wide variety of game birds and poultry in the 90’s when he was living on an acreage; to Finches, Canaries, and Doves living in the city. He has raised birds not only for his own enjoyment, but also been connected to educating with the hatchery he owned and operated in Red Deer. As well as a petting zoo he built in the early 90’s at a Children’s summer camp that is still operating today. He has a passion for always learning more, and trying to constantly improve and develop the birds he breeds. As well, he enjoys working with people to help them discover new ways they can learn from, and enjoy birds of all shapes and sizes. He serves as a director on the Canadian Pigeon Fanciers Association, as well as the Secretary and Show Chairman for the Calgary Fancy Pigeon Association. He brings with him over 30 years of experience raising birds of all kinds, as well as an understanding of how to work to put together shows and events. He looks forward to seeing what new opportunities our club will lead to in Calgary, and beyond.

Lise Haney

Member/Public Relations

My first encounter with Lady Gouldian Finches was at a local pet store a couple of years ago.  I was pretty much smitten the moment I discovered these beautiful creatures.  I soon found an experienced breeder from whom I bought my first pair, and who taught me much about raising Gouldians, as well as steering me in the direction of this Club.  A newcomer to the club, I have learned much in my short time as a member and look forward to learning even more.  My birding interest lies primarily with Lady Gouldian finches and while I don’t consider myself a bigtime breeder, I do have a special fondness for these birds and strive to produce strong, healthy and vibrant birds.  I also have a pair of budgies, Senegal finches (fire finches) and one blind Java finch.  It is a very rewarding and fulfilling hobby, and one which I hope to continue to enjoy throughout my retirement years.
